dresser flip! for $50

I needed a desk.

Our budget was zero.

We needed more space in the dinning room.

SO I hopped over to pinterest.. found a dresser TURNED buffet and was sold..

Then off to craigslist.. I found this gem for $50.00

I asked if they would take $35.oo … SO glad i asked! This solid wood baby became mine…

after it sat in our garage for 2 WEEKS.. I decided YESTERDAY was the day…

After i lightly sanded it.. and picked out the PERFECT shade of grey… (1 quart with PLENTY leftover) I began the task. My sweet kids really wanted to paint also but..eek that kinda scared me.. so we came up with a fun driveway mixture.. water, mashed up sidewalk chalk. PERFECT!!

(they played like this for almost 3 hours!!!!!!! WIN for mommy!)

After two coats of paint.. and home made knobs/pulleys (THAKN YOU PINTEREST!) I ended up with this BEAUTIFUL buffet …..

31Little bit of decor… need a new lamp, shade and to paint the frame AND add a picture.. but total cost for that was $1.00 (had everything else stored for a rainy day)

How cute is this printable???? you can go HERE to get it… clip board $1 store!!

Well i am INLOVE with my new dinning room area.. the drawers will house all my etsy shop stuff, bills and any office stuff… AND it looks SOO pretty! And all for only $50.00

I am post baby #4 .. 3.5 months.. I am squeezing into some pre-baby things and have packed up all my Maternity and loaned it out. I am in-between the two and at times it is really frustrating..

Id like it to go a bit faster:) Anywho I have a sweet friend who is a fashionesta and really loves to piece clothes together.. I nicely asked her if she could rummage through my closet and make something out of a hodge bodge assortment… AND SHE DID!!!!!!!!!!

SOO she came over and we pulled ALL my clothes out…

the fun begins!

the fun begins!

Then she puts things together like NO ONES business.. she made my old clothes look alive and exciting again!! She used one scarf XX different ways.. amazed!

Homemade Brownies!

We all love pinterest.. or rather we love to hate it:) A LONG time ago I saw this recipe for homemade brownies and since we have been striving to eat box items that are 5 or less  we were on the hunt for a yummy brownie mix. Insert Pinterest!!!!!

I then gathered all the supplies and began mixing up this yummy dessert…

DSC03786I did add chocolate chips to my batter..(I would not recommend this because where the chips were it seemed uncooked)..

Other than adding in the chips i followed the recipe exact! IT WAS gone!! That same night! SOO I am guess it was a huge hit!!

The Next (4 times) time I made this I double the recipe.. And I am thinking about substituting oil for applesauce..I’ve done it before with other things so I think its time to try it on this one.. I will update when I do that!

Other than those things I would say this was a HUGE hit AND KEEPER! for the Kent family! And since my husband is a chocolate nerd I have decided to make up some dry mix bags of this for quick mixing..(kind of like the box only without any crazy yucky stuff!!)

I currently have a double batch on my stove 3/4’s gone!:) Let me know how you like it!!

1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Flour
1/3 Cup Cocoa
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Baking Powder

Mix all these ingredients together with a whisk and dump them into a zipper bag.  On the bag, add the following instructions:

Add:  2 Eggs, 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil, 1 teaspoon Vanilla.  Bake @ 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes in a 9 x 9 pan.

Something New @ Delight Designs

On facebook a few weeks ago there was this status going around that said “first 5 people to comment will receive something (it could be anything) from me within the next year” well I decided to take the challenge and last week i sent out my first goodie.. The recipient is a young single mother who adores her son and is an amazing mother! When i saw this quote on pinterest i know it fit her to a ‘T’..

I thought it came out nice and I pray when she opens her mail she will love it also! Because she is such a great mom, and her son is blessed to have her, just as she is to have him!!!

No bake Granola bars.. SUCCESS!

One of my monthly goals was to try a new recipe.. I decided to take it a bit more and I am doing a snack and a meal .. SO for the snack i choose No bake Granola bars.. (got the recipe here… http://moneysavingmom.com/2012/09/chewy-no-bake-granola-bars.html  )

OOH my goodness they were soo yummy!

No bake granola bars

No bake granola bars

I made it part of school so the boys helped..

(due to not reading the entire directions first.. i added the choco chips BEFORE i was supposed to..thus the more choco look)

The only part that had to be “cooked” was the honey and brown sugar..

Needless to say I quickly wrapped each one (after they cooled of course) in wax paper in hopes i would not devor them ALL!:) NO more store bought granola for us.. these will be made again!

Chewy No-Bake Granola Bars

Makes 24 bars (9″x13″ pan)

  • 2 ½ cups Rice Krispies (if you want to make these healthier, you can use plain puffed rice cereal)
  • 1 ¾ cups quick oats (regular rolled oats work too)
  • ¼ cup wheat germ (or ground flax seed, wheat bran, or additional oats)
  • ½ cup additional mix-in ingredients, optional (i.e. shredded coconut, chopped nuts, raisins or other dried fruit, sesame or sunflower seeds, etc.)
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup brown sugar (or sucanat)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

  • Combine first 4 dry ingredients in a bowl.
  • In a saucepan, mix the honey, brown sugar and salt. Over medium-low heat, stir until the mixture comes to a complete boil for 30-60 seconds.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter and vanilla until smooth.
  • Pour over the dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Let cool for 5-10 minutes before mixing in the chocolate chips.
  • Press into a greased 9×13 pan and let cool before cutting into bars.

These freeze well!!

let me know if you try them!
