Meeting Baby Brother..

For weeks now the kids have prayed, anticipated and even {daily} looking out the window each morning to see if ‘daddys car was gone that would mean brother was here.” Finally Saturday they were able to see us off and wait for the call šŸ™‚ Once brother arrived the kids -and Nonna- hurried to the hospital to meet him!

first was the attempt to get a group family picture… yep a bit more challenging than we expected… due to me not being able to hold any of the kids and being bed ridden…

They were beyond thrilled! It was neat this time since they each understood it this go around. seeing their smiles and desire to hold Asher over and over was so heart warming!

Dating the littles….

A few months backed Joel and I decided that it was important for me to ‘date’ each of our children before our newest little arrives in Jan. For many reasons we went this route..

  1. for the next MANY months i will be toting an infant (who will likely be nursing)
  2. they need to having special one-on-one with mom
  3. seeing me non-stressed doing fun things with just them.. I mean who doesn’t want that?!
  4. giving them quality time..something we ALL crave no matter the age..

We originally planned to do the 3 older ones one right after another.. then we got sick and life happened.. so it ended up being a few weeks between each one.. BUT finally Sunday Judah and I completed the dates.

First up was Levi… as with all our dates we let the child pick what to do and then we talk aboutĀ it… It is pretty much free rain on food but the activity is normally free or relatively cheap.. So Levi choose

Freddys for dinner and Toysrus to look for a gift to bring to baby brother when he comes to visit..(isn’t this the sweetest thing EVER!?!)

we found this adorable brown patting-ton bear with a green hat .. it was soo cute and HE was so proud!

Then Selah and I went on a modified date.. I had errands to run and she wanted to join .. so we combined it as her date:)

Judah ended up being last due to the yuckies that arrived the night he and I were to go out … He wanted to go the arcade (at walmart… we really don’t get out much:) then CrackleĀ barrel to eat…

I taught him how to play the game.. something i was shocked he didn't know who to do..but i guess when we go we are busy with all the eating we never showed him.. he did really good!

These are some of my favorite times with my kids.. spending time chatting and doing things they love is so much fun. it cost maybe $20 a date but a lifetime of memories.. Judah kept saying.. this is my favorite night mom.. i love date nights. Selah now thinks anytime we are alone in the car together its a date. Showing my kids they are special and IMPORTANT to me and getting into their head is something i want to grow… setting time away now when they are little and making it a priority will only allow us theirĀ parents to speak into thier life when they are older because we have set up traditions and time for us to ‘hang out or chat!” love this journey with my littles!:)

SOOO do you date or do something special with your kids??

Our soccer hero!

Our little Taco (Judah) turned 4 this year and when they are four we have allowed them to play a sport. Levi did when he was 4 and had so much fun! Judah has been looking forward to it for years.. Well this year was his year! We signed him up got his uniform and made the weekly trek to the field every tuesday night for practice and every Saturday for games.. Today was his last game, in which he made a goal (always good to end on a good note) and had his team party.

Here is a recap in pictures and captions of our sweet soccer boy!

He had no idea what he was doing so the first few games we did a lot of ball chasing!! BUT at least he looked cute doing it!

About two games ago Judah suddenly realized that if he ran towards the goal when the other team had the ball he could block it. (yes it might have been 10 games in BUT hey he did it on his own:) AND he actually blocked quite a few! Proud moment for both judah and us!

As I mentioned today was the last game. His team was named team sharp..(that was the coaches last name) These boys played wither is was HOT (in which it was) or FREEZING (which many times it was) and WINDY!! These boys never complained and just played their little hearts out!

IMG_20141115_114944_388Ā Not sure if Soccer will be on his agenda next year but with a little training i think he could do a great job! Not to mention Selah will be turning 4 and will be joining the tradition .. although lucky for us she wants to do an indoor sport.. ballet!
