A year ALREADY?!

Today marks the end of the school year for us. Brother completed 1st grade and Taco K-3. I take first day of school pictures, so lets take a quick look back..

DSC04800Through the year we have had lots of up and downs.. a few “I WANT TO QUIT” moments {FROM mommy}. A lesson on being grateful they only have 1.5 hours of school and then play time. But then there are the moments I love, such as my oldest cuddling with me EVERY afternoon to read to me from his reader. Or my Judah who loves to do puzzles (all kinds) and show me his finished product, and then sister who brings ‘baby sassea’ to school EVERY day… Having them with me all the time is not always easy..

TRUST me we have quit school in mid day to go out to play due to attitudes being foul or mommy having a hard time with a little one. But I would not change one bit of this school year! I am excited and nervous about 2nd grade due to adding more subjects.. but I cant wait.. So grateful to be able to teach my children everyday!!! A few pictures from the year…

Get in the picture!

Earlier this week we had the pleasure of working with Michele from Everything Lovely Photography. LET me tell you! SOO MUCH FUN!

We headed there at 9:30 and the care and attention was amazing. (NOT TO MENTION my kids were obedient!) Michele, the visionary artist

behind the pictures did amazing, and was super kind. She captured my sweet ‘Sister’, ‘Chickadee’ and then did a group one of the 3 of us! WOW.

Is an understatement.. she went WAY above and Beyond .. I cant wait to get these on my walls! something i will treasure THE rest of my life!

One things I realize is that as a women in her 30’s (yes barely but i am there) and who has 4 kids.. sometimes its hard to go get pictures done or made because we arent ‘the right size’. Or we arent pre-baby yet. I read an article once (OR RATHER superman sent it to me to read) that said.. When we are old and our kids are gone.. they will not remember us as ‘big’ or ‘5lbs over’ or ‘sleep deprived’, or ‘our favorite size 8 pants didnt fit’ NO they will remember us for getting in the picture with them…

Love to all you momma’s out there!!
Post your pictures of you and your little ones!!

The good mom….

Yesterday we ran about our day as usual, wake up, breakfast, school (x3), library, then CFA. While at the library for story time (WHICH if you are in my neck of the woods we have an amazing librarian who’s calling REALLY is children and books!!) Anywho… when story time is over she has a craft for them to do. I normally try to sit out the craft..(REMEMBER i have 4 kids 6 and under). But today was soo funny I had to share…

As I did my normal -5 million times a day- scan to count kids, I saw sweet sister pulling on another moms shirt to have her help with her craft.. – I gulity got up and walked over to relieve the mom. In which she said ‘oh she is soo sweet i dont mind’ and my own daughter saying ‘ her help me mommy!’.. WELL ok!

I’ll look for the boys..

BOTH were being read to by ANOTHER good mom..

Although I love being apart of the comunity which people love your kids for you.. i felt horrible….

MAYBE cause I was sitting …..

SEE that empty green chair… yep that is where my tush was .. just relaxing rocking the baby, chatting away!

WELL next time ill be the ‘good mom’ and read to other peoples kids…’maybe!’ 🙂

“officially a homeschool mom”

A few days ago I had to get my oil changed.. LIKE i was WAY WAY over.. the light was one over:( So I decided “tomorrow” was the day. Since Superman could not do it for me or even stay with the kids (cause if i waited till then it MIGHT break down)… I gathered all that i would need to be at the car place for HOURS.. cause lets be real.. they don’t use clocks, and dont care about what we have planned. Snacks, blanket, daipers, change of clothes (potty training).. And school for my oldest 2. SO I loaded up the car with these and headed out for our morning adventure….

the moving school house

We arrived at dealership, and the process of oil change began… I laid out my blanket..(CAUSE the floor was GROSS!) And began passing out their activities..

prepared for the long hall...

sent the above pic to my hubby and his response.. “you are officially a homeschool mom”..

Not sure what i was before.. a circus conductor?  🙂

ONLY to be told .. moments later… “Mrs Kent, your car is finished!”

BUT IF I WASN’T PREPARED.. i would still be there:)

I have a friend.. and she had the wild crazy idea of getting our 9.5 kids together to color eggs.. Seems normal enough.. BUT NO.. we had to do it the OLD FASHION way..

I knew IT would be perfect, and so much fun. So after rescheduling (2) times we finally did it..TODAY! 🙂 good thing cause Easter is THIS weekend! She saw this article in a magazine

We armed our selfs with beets, purple cabbage, blue berries yellow onions, purple onions, turmeric (DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT WAS), spinach & parsley, TONS of pots, white vinegar and 9 (YES NINE) kids!

Then onto the stove to boil..

Then onto the stove to boil..

Each color had to be mixed with water and vinegar.. We let boil for a long time (we started talking so who really knows ..maybe an hour??) We did drop a few non boiled yet eggs into the pots those were brighter colored in the end.

While the pots were boiling the kids were playing!

So we were able to dye beautiful eggs, and teach a science lesson AND have fun!? Without any yucky additives:)

levi loved the yellow/brown ones, judah the light green, and mine was the pretty tealish blue/green!

SOO pretty and very fun!

Eleven more…..

6.5 years old

6.5 years old

Its been coming for a few days.. since i first noticed it… I am proud, honored, and blown away

Just like that my 6lb son, the one who made me a mommy for the first time.. is growing in to a little man…

“Mrs. Sarah you dont have to do this alone..” to my friend who was carrying an infant carrier and holding her 18months old hand down the stairs.

“Mom, ill help sister put her shoes on.”

“My pants are too short’.

He is holding doors, being nice to his siblings, wanting to honor me (in ways he has saw his daddy do)

Thanking me for cooking dinner.. and the list goes on.

WHEN did this happen, was I not looking, was I too busy, will i miss the little him, as much as i am enjoying the BIG him???

Will the next 6.5 years fly by as fast as these first 6 have? Will I be able to enjoy the day to day things more now that i realize ..
