Last week i posted this picture and was asked a LOT of questions! SOo i hope to answer them in this post!:)
first thing i do is portion out the meat…(the beef & chicken will be divided in half..) Then i prepared the whole chicken to be cooked in the crockpot like this  https://houseofkent.wordpress.com/2013/02/12/whole-chicken-experience/   that will give me 4 meals (of one cup of shredded chicken per meal)

the lunch meat will last about a week (5 kids and me) and the 8 breasts will last 2 meals…. (this is a very $$ meal for us but Easter is here so we splurged:)

We dont do MEAT.. we think of it more as a side.. to go along with the meal.. a few years ago we went on a 21 day Daniel fast and we didn’t have meat.. this was hard.. but we soon realized that meat was consuming us.. we were able to leave out meat in some of our favorite meals and not even notice.. SOO when we introduced meat again it only made sense to make it small.. 4 years later and we are still making meat an ingredient but not the MAIN one!:)

If you have stir fry for example.. why not throw more veggies in and use only 1 cup of shredded chicken or even one breast… Or if you are making BBQ chicken sandwiches try doing it in the crockpot (thus making it shredded)and use only 2 breast (i use one and a half).. the key isnt how much meat you use but what else you cook for dinner… if you are having grilled chicken every night (for use that is at least a breast per person) then YES it will be costly.. try having a side dish become your main dish or even JUST lowering your amount in meals…

worth a shot right?? NOW i know a few of you have teens… (BOYS) why not pump them with with a salad, veggies and THEN dinner?? we do that now wiht our boys.. (yes they are small but we are trying to teach them to eat healthy) we serve load salad with fruit.. YES meat is in the salad but they will eat 2 bowls of salad, fruit and then water to drink.. -and i only use 1 cup of chicken for my entire family.. GREAT savings..

Does that make sense??

What about a total meatless meal night?? we used to do this more .. but really its not hard and with pinterest and the internet the options are SOO HUGE!:)

SO anyone willing to do a ‘lower meat week???’

When routine goes out the window!

So yesterday morning didnt go like i had Planned.. and well you all know i am a PLANNER!!!!!!!! I love my schules and how smoothly things run.. awww! BUT yesterday i had planned on waking up at 5:30 and heading out to do MUCH needed (been 2 weeks needed) food shopping! Had my list and coupons ready to go… Superman arrived home and parked in the middle of the drive way.. (NEVER HAPPENS) and it was super late when he got home so i thought ill let him sleep -Its a company box truck .. i was not moving it- 6:30 rolls around and i had to go.. an hour later i arrive home, to have secs before the girls i keep arrive.. food everywhere, kids running around, husband kissing me bye, a baby crying in her bed.. and There i stood….. OVERWHELMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I normally do school everyday around 8:15 but today it was like 9:00 before anything was 1/2 way normal.. SO i said there is no way i can corral all the kids (5 of them) to come into the school room and fouce.. SURE i could have forced it but come on lets be real that would have been a nightmare for ME!!

SO with clip boards, plain white paper and markers.. (jackets, shoes, potty, stroller, socks, later) we were outside..

Objective: find something beautiful God created……

"drawing a purple flower.. they arrange themselves"

“drawing a purple flower.. they arrange themselves”

From 5.5 to 2 years old all the kids LOVED it.. as we went along i added more things.. ie. something alive, a flower, a bush, and a rock. It was really neat to see what they each thought was ‘beautiful’.

here is each child with their finish work…

Cant you see it?!? But after these amazing artists were able to express themselves we headed inside to (take off jackets, shoes, ect) and were able to do a little school.. AND IT WAS SOO MUCH FUN!

SOO note to self.. routines are AMAZING! but sometimes a change up is great for both you and and the kids!:)

SOO any change of routines for you?!?!?

5 ingredients or less….URG!

IN the effort to eat better and cleaner with my family i have decided to TRY only purchasing items that have 5 ingredients or less… SOO up and at the store by 6:00 yesterday morning (KID FREE mind you!:) I wondered the ailes looking for items on my list all the while checking and counting how many ingredients were in each item… LUCKY for us we tipically eat really well and dont buy tons of junk food.. we never buy candy, sodas or juices (expect whole OJ). BUT even with all that we are still in need of an upgrade!:)

Hope superman is on board!:)

Here is what i got that was in the rules.. WELL the one rule..

obeying the 5 rule

obeying the 5 rule

We already bought organic prior to this switch so that wasn’t a big hit .. Total cost $90.00 ( i had 4 coupons but FORGOT to use them)

Here is what i purchased NOT within the rule

FAIL! :)

FAIL! 🙂

Total cost $10.00 ( yes i know i could make my own tortillas and taco seasoning but not today.. i will one day… baby steps people:)

But as i was shopping for bread i COULD not find one that had less than A BILLION things in it..(i make bread at home so i know you dont need gum paste..) SO i decided right there in the bread aisle to come home and make our own sandwiches bread..from then on..(MMMM lets see if this sticks).. 3 hours later the house smelled yummy and we had this for lunch.. GOOD clean homemade whole wheat bread!

only 6 ingredients... AND I know and can say all 6!

only 6 ingredients… AND I know and can say all 6!

Then i headed to Publix where i get all our meat.. Still trying to figure out if Boars head is good or not.. but today i just bought it.. next time i will know;? This will last us more than a month!

Sorry for the blurry pic. 1 whole greewise chicken 1lb boars head lunch meat 8 breast of chicken 1 lean beef 1 all natural ground turkey

Well lets see how this new adventure goes.. i plan on making granola bars also .. my goal is to buy things with less than 5. But when baking something or making it it can have more.. (i buy organic mostly anyways!:) SOO who wants to join me?!?!
