Soo that is our plan this week.. what is your meal plan???
This week has been full of sickness around here.. one kid or another has had the yuckies.. Well today it went full throttle.. “baby” seems to be on the tail end, “taco” right smack in the middle and “Brother” the beginning stages… SOO off to the doctors we went.. and 1.5 hours later we no nothing than its the croup and Baby has an ear infection… (first one of my kiddo’s to get this:(BOO!) I didnt even make it home before two were asleep.. After a 3 hour nap.. they all were soo sleep still.. SOO in went a special treat of Veggies tales!
Baby cried the entire afternoon..well about every 20 or 30 minutes… at 5:00 I REALIZED it was 5:00 and soo thankfull for the Freezer meal i had thrown in the crockpot before the doctors appt this morning…. Due to my crazy day i would have opted to take out or another form of food…Such a proud moment to be able to have a home cooked meal without the stress..
SOO incase you were not already aware i LOVE my freezer cooking swap group i am part of.. FOR DAYS LIKE TODAY! Now i am off to lay on the couch by the fire and my Superman.. SOO i can be ready for anything that comes at me during the night..(last night between the two boys i was up 9 times)-praying for a more restful night!:)
Here is a shot of my babies earlier in the day..
Veggie Tales..a fire.. pallets x3 and 3 sick babies…
If you are able to just do one freezer meal a week.. (maybe double a recipe you are already making) it might be worth it.. My goal of eating out once a week was not broken because of sickness or tiredness (at least not this time:) but instead we kept right on because there was a ‘pre-plan’
Let me know when a freezer meal has come to your families rescue…..
For Christmas this past year i wanted to make a bunch of the gifts we gave.. although i wanted to do more i was able to do 5 or so really neat ones.. Thanks to good ol’ pinterest!
The first one i made was a scarf for my Sis n law…
I used Fabric Juice i ordered off Amazon..(the tips were med..but i think i could have gone with wide) I wrote the verse
“she is clothed in strength and dignity, she can laugh without fear of the future. Proverbs31:35” I got the scarf at 5 & below… it was time consuming but i loved the end results!
The next thing i made was this:
cake taker for Supermans Grandma… she makes the most AMAZING cakes (11 layer to be exact) and she needed a personalized carrier right??:)
(i sell the decals over on my site http://www.etsy.com/shop/Delightdesigns2 ) I loved the way it turned out..
I am watching two little girls 4 days a week so for their parents I made this:
Each girl’s little foot .. i LOVED it.. Made one for me..yeah not as cute… (plate walmart $4.00, paint i had on hand.. Vinyl i sell in my shop.. custom order)
And lastly it was my in-laws 35 anniversary this year so as thier tag on their present i made this ornament..
There is just something about a homemade christmas!!
(i did make a fort kit for my niece but i forgot to take a picture..:(
Did you make any fun christmas gifts??
Soo this month i set out to organize my closet.. not such a big task right?? HA! Here is the Before:
*cant be project without helpers…
SOO this is the lovely walkin closet my Superman and I share.. we have used this closet for almost 4 years and we have never cleaned it out.. IT WAS TIME!!!!!!!! So my side first.. i empty the my entire side… on to our bed.. then went through each piece and decided if it was a keeper or not.. (WOW i had a ton that didnt make the cut:) .. still had the dress i was wearing when Superman asked me to marry him.. and havent worn it since… sadly..it didnt make the cut…
THEN the harder part was having Superman clean and go through his side…”uh why dont you do it since you know what i should keep” .. 🙂 he did it and realized it was a good thing!!
I was able to vaccume and then hang all that was left on the wooden hangers i got back in college.. it looks soo neat and everything that is in there fits!:) .. (well all expect that clear tote on the floor that is maternity clothes)
Trust me a HUGE difference…
Were you able to clean out a closet this month??
One of my monthly goals was to try a new recipe.. I decided to take it a bit more and I am doing a snack and a meal .. SO for the snack i choose No bake Granola bars.. (got the recipe here… http://moneysavingmom.com/2012/09/chewy-no-bake-granola-bars.html )
OOH my goodness they were soo yummy!
No bake granola bars
I made it part of school so the boys helped..
(due to not reading the entire directions first.. i added the choco chips BEFORE i was supposed to..thus the more choco look)
The only part that had to be “cooked” was the honey and brown sugar..
Needless to say I quickly wrapped each one (after they cooled of course) in wax paper in hopes i would not devor them ALL!:) NO more store bought granola for us.. these will be made again!
Chewy No-Bake Granola Bars
Makes 24 bars (9″x13″ pan)
- 2 ½ cups Rice Krispies (if you want to make these healthier, you can use plain puffed rice cereal)
- 1 ¾ cups quick oats (regular rolled oats work too)
- ¼ cup
wheat germ (or ground flax seed, wheat bran, or additional oats)
- ½ cup additional mix-in ingredients, optional (i.e. shredded coconut, chopped nuts, raisins or other dried fruit, sesame or sunflower seeds, etc.)
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup brown sugar (or sucanat)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup chocolate chips
- Combine first 4 dry ingredients in a bowl.
- In a saucepan, mix the honey, brown sugar and salt. Over medium-low heat, stir until the mixture comes to a complete boil for 30-60 seconds.
- Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour over the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Let cool for 5-10 minutes before mixing in the chocolate chips.
- Press into a greased 9×13 pan and let cool before cutting into bars.
These freeze well!!
let me know if you try them!
